The Mint.

Who is behind Florida Man Mint?

We’re Shane and Caiden Jennings, a father and son running a family business in Sarasota, Florida. We make original silver coins that bring Florida’s adventurous spirit into collectible art, inspired by lost ships, ocean mysteries and the hunt for treasure. Florida Man Mint comes from the team behind Certified Rare Coin Auctions, a Sarasota rare-coin and currency business with a history in the trade dating to 2002. Read our story

Who makes Florida Man Mint coins?

Florida Man Mint LLC, a Sarasota, Florida company founded by Shane and Caiden Jennings, designs and issues every coin, sells them direct at floridamanmint.com, and records each edge number in the Registry. The current releases are Spear of the Gulf and The Sunken Real, with Turtle Tide on pre-sale.

Is this the same as the “Florida Man” silver round sold on eBay?

No. That is a generic bullion round from a different mint. A Florida Man Mint coin is an original design, edge-numbered 001–150, with its own certificate and Registry record.

Where are the coins minted?

In Florida. We choose a Florida minting partner who shares our mission, keeping the work in the state that inspires our designs.

Are the coins legal tender, or from the U.S. Mint?

No. Florida Man Mint LLC is a private mint. Our coins are .999 fine silver collectibles. They’re not legal tender, and we’re not affiliated with the United States Mint.

Are the coins an investment?

They’re collectibles, made for the artwork and the story. We set the price of each release ourselves, our prices aren’t tied to the silver market, and nothing on this site is investment advice.

The coins.

What are the coins made of?

Spear of the Gulf, The Sunken Real and Turtle Tide are each one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, with original two-sided artwork in relief: Tide-Raised Relief™ on the Sand and Gulf-Deep Relief™ on the Sea. See the collection

What comes with each coin?

Each coin arrives in our protective Treasure-cased holder, with a struck metal label that carries the coin’s identity. It comes with a numbered 4x6 certificate of authenticity, a 4x6 story postcard, a velvet pouch, a Keeper’s Glove and a Florida Man Mint box.

Can I take the coin out of its holder?

Yes. Our Treasure-cased holder opens, and the included Keeper’s Glove lets you handle the coin with care before returning it to its case.

What does the price include?

The complete numbered collectible: one ounce of .999 fine silver, original artwork in relief, an engraved edge number, its certificate and Registry record, the presentation pieces above, and free insured shipping within the United States. Each coin’s current price is on its product page.

Numbers and the Registry.

What do 150 and 500 mean?

The First Tide Release contains 150 pieces, numbered 001–150 on the edge. A design may later have standard-release pieces, but the High-Water Mark limits that design to 500 pieces in total. The first 150 retain their First Tide identity.

What is the edge number?

The number engraved on the coin’s edge matches its certificate and Official Registry record, connecting the piece you hold to a record you can check.

Can I choose my coin’s number?

Yes, for most numbers. Pick your number on the Registry and it’s held for you while you check out. No. 000 is never for sale; 001–015 are held for High Tide Society members to pick; 050, 100 and 150 are trophy numbers held by the Mint (on Turtle Tide, No. 100 is Lost at Sea); and a few other numbers are held by the Mint or Lost at Sea. If you don’t pick, you’ll receive the lowest open number in line. How coin numbers work

How do I know my coin is genuine?

Enter the Authentication ID from your certificate on our Verify page to confirm your coin is genuine. Verify your coin

What is the Registry?

The Official Registry is the record of every numbered coin. Once your coin is verified, you can claim it in the Registry and give it a name. Visit the Registry

Returns and pre-orders.

Can I return a coin?

All sales are final. The exceptions are shipping loss, shipping damage or a Mint error. If your order arrives damaged, is lost in transit or differs from what you ordered because of our error, contact us within 14 days of delivery (or expected delivery) at support@floridamanmint.com with your order number and clear photographs of the packaging and contents. Returns & Refunds

How do pre-orders work?

Some releases are sold as pre-orders with an estimated ship window. You may cancel a pre-order for a full refund any time before striking of that release begins, or if the pre-sale misses its stated ship date. Once striking has begun, the pre-order is otherwise final.

Do you buy coins back?

Ask us about it. Call (941) 294-2538 or write to support@floridamanmint.com.

Giving back and the Society.

What is The Sea’s Share?

Through The Sea’s Share, 2% of net proceeds from every coin sold supports Mote Marine Laboratory. Net proceeds means the purchase price actually received by Florida Man Mint, less applicable taxes, shipping, and payment-processing fees. Contributions are unrestricted, helping Mote advance its mission where resources can make a meaningful difference. Read The Sea’s Share

What is the High Tide Society?

Our annual membership for collectors. It renews yearly by your hand, with no card on file. The seat is the key, not the coin: member-only strikes are bought separately, at their own price, in a window only members can enter. The High Tide Society

Stories.

Are the Gulf Fables true stories?

No. The Gulf Fables in our Tide Log are original fables set in real Gulf Coast towns. The towns are real; the stories are fiction. Read the Tide Log

Do you have a free book?

Yes. Florida’s Treasure Routes is a free 38-page illustrated voyage through Florida’s treasure routes, with historic maps, Spanish silver and the passages that carried them. Get the free book
